Howard Stern related nostalgia (looking back at Howard Stern related topics involving Meatsheet)

I used to live in the greater metro New York / Philly area in NJ. I listened to Howard Stern from 1987 until about 2012. At that time I could not make ends meet and simply did not renew my subscription. I still love the laughs and all the debauchery from back then. Here are some key memoirs that may have appeared in my back issues ... or not.

I know that Howard is controversial and has said and done some messed up things. He appeals to lowest common denominator sometimes.

What kept me a fan were the wack packers, crank callers, skits, guests , and Robin Quivers.

She is usually the voice of reason, Howard plays the provocateur. He has also championed free speech. I'll be posting Stern related stuff for the fans. This blog is about looking back to see how things have evolved or devolved after all these years. If you are offended by Howard, it's cool. I respect how one may feel that way. Hopefully you are / were a fan or you can find something else on this blog. This page is just a small facet of its totality or sum if you will.

Onto prank callers , friends of the show, and the times I met them.

I will update this every once in a while for some more Howard Stern related nostalgia. Baba booey to you all.

Howard Stern nostalgia
KC Armstrong holding Issue #4

Backstory - KC was the associate producer of the radio show, the year is somewhere around 2000. Issue 5 featured Jim Florentine. I secured an interview with him , save that for another time. Jim was cool enough to get me time to chat with KC. At that time they were both regularly appearing on Howard. Caught them at a few comedy gigs around NJ.

Jim's crank calls had and still have me rollin'. Check out what's up to now - I recommend his podcast and his Facebook updates / podcast

His sites are linked below.

KC had a stand up routine that juvenile , edgy and dark. So much so that people didn't like it. I thought it was funny. I listened to the show regularly and when Howard would break KC's balls that was amusing.

One of his stand out jokes went like this

KC: you know what i hate ?!? (yelling louder with each question)

Audience: What ?

KC: I hate going into the woods with a child and coming out alone.

Audience: (groans)

Me: shit eating grin and laughing

Guess I was a little fucked up and like that humor. He had other zingers too. My girlfriend at the show went to bathroom and she said two women were commenting on his set

" He's cute but his jokes are awful !!! " (in a firm Latina voice that my ex imitated)

I called the Stern show that Monday after his show on a whim. You had to prove your call was worth airing by telling the screener intern what you want to say. The broadcast was full of haters so I quickly called the secret number that bypassed the (1 888 44 S T E R N ) and said " i want to defend KC's act." I recounted the GF dialogue in a Latina voice just like above and said to Howard and his inner show crew  "He's funny , it's dark and such but I'd see him again" Howard laughed and at some point I was still talking but they cut me off   (I think, i had my radio down like most callers did not so i could not hear the FCC 10 second delay) . Common practice. Gotta keep the show moving.

I was awestruck. Seems silly now, but back then it was like I was an active part of the show even if only for 15 seconds.

Check out what KC does now. Thanks KC, you were really cool and treated me as a fan of the show well.
