Vintage Powell Peralta Rodney Mullen Shirt

Rodney Mullen Powell Peralta shirt -NFS

This is a vintage Rodney Mullen shirt circa 1987. Rodney Mullen is the king of street style skateboarding. Happy birthday to him. This is a piece that is not for sale from my own collection it was my shirt from day one. My collection is small .. smaller than those annoying wheels from the 90s. But shirts like this help me focus on the good and not the things I find questionable. I will forgive him for World Industries but that is another matter.
For example this shirt probably is from a shop that dealt in Sporting Goods. Around 85 or 86 the owner of the shop saw that he could turn a quick buck from skateboarding like many skate rats at the time our parental figures or friends would drive us to places like this to get how to get boards and skateboarding paraphernalia like this. It was glorious to walk in right past the soccer and softball Goods and go right to the skateboarding soft goods such as shoes, shirts, etc.

One of my favorite clips from way back. Taken from Bones Brigade Video 4 – Public Domain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCIirpLKw4

I probably settled on this Rodney Mullen shirt knowing I would outgrow it but I wanted it because I was stoked on seeing Rodney’s part in Future Primitive.  Also known as Bones Brigade Video 2. It’s a medium and in about 6 months I grew into a Stedman large. This white shirt and ink color combo is great, but I would have loved royal blue with yellow. Nevertheless I’m happy to own this. Another clip, Bones 1 out take https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFImZECw1c0&fbclid=IwAR0tjnm7C1ybxeutoOqrsxFngF3wslgphqE7FdQuaogN7ELCQoe4nKuhLW4

If you have ever do kickflips (and many other street tricks) then you owe that innovation to this man.

He invented so many tricks that just crosses over into flatland street skating. Lastly no one I know in skateboarding has such a solid Style and a flair for micro precision. Mullen is a genius on and off his skateboard. Thank you for your dedication Mister Mullen.

In addition to this vintage Rodney Mullen tee, this is my second relic in my blog’s tab entitled – Paraphenalia.
