Mary Lattimore – Sometimes He’s In My Dreams – Ghostly International

Mary Lattimore, harpist , muse, and collaborator has shared a new track. The title is “Sometimes He’s In My Dreams.” Secondly she announces a new album. Silver Ladders is to be released October 9 on Ghostly International. Silver Ladders will have seven songs. The album is produced by a personal favorite of mine, Neil Halstead from Slowdive.

Mary Lattimore – new track !

Sometimes He’s In my dreams feels like a nocturnal stroll from bed to the window to bask in the moonlight. Dazzling, but subdued, the harp work is plucked well and a bit mysterious. It makes my imagination wonder if the piece’s intention is about going in and out of waking and dreaming. The higher pitched strings ping and sharply ring. The mid and lower tones smooth out the trebles.

There is a clean electric guitar track reminiscing of Slowdive’s latest self titled album. Ethereal reverb washes over the harp and recedes like a night time tide. It could also be the tone of the less reverbed out tracks on Slowdive’s Pygmalion. Tone that is just so. Not excessive reverb, but enough to add a little breath of dimension. As opposed to full on outer space reverb you hear on traditional shoegaze songs. As the song trickles along at about the three minute and twenty second mark we get a flurry of shimmering arpeggios that kind of blend into a ambient fade out.

It’s as if the listener is slipping back into the slumber that they temporarily woke from.

A post or pre slumber nocturnal sojourn? – Mary Lattimore’s – Sometimes He’s In My Dreams

This year may be one of the craziest I have witnessed but I can honestly say that artists like Mary Lattimore and others on my blog are intent on speaking their truth with music. Silver Ladders is highly anticipated for me. I cannot wait to hear what Neil Halstead does. I read that he had not recorded harp before. That is enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. 2020 may prove to be a year of great releases and collaborations. Check out this collaboration covered a few weeks back

I cannot stress enough the importance of music like Mary’s and many others in these uncertain times. The autumn will bring some release. If only a few great albums or singles I’ll gratefully and humbly accept. – Meat
