Official Old School Fury Of V Cassette
Official Old School Fury Of Five Cassette . I figured I would post this since they’re such a revival of things from this era coming back around . I want to start this off jersey style. I’m from there in fact an old friend who goes by old school Alex on Instagram was good friends with this band. That is how I came into possession of this cassette. I don’t remember the particulars but I’ll reckon I saw them live and I bought it off of their merch table.
So I’m not a really big fan of Fury of V. I don’t dislike them either. I’m not saying this out of fear of having my arms torn off by Stickman the singer. As in angry Wookie style. But live on stage? They really brought the energy. You don’t have to be a huge fan to tell that. They fucked shit up every time I saw them. I’m laughing because I cannot remember how many times I saw them or the venues. I would need to consult flyers from Fury Of V shows that are pre and right before their first LP dropped. You fans from the area and internet detectives? Help me out.
The point of this post is documentation. Also, since I haven’t seen them live since this demo, if I had a chance to see them I’d be interested in hearing and watching in this pre apocalyptic present day.
Additionally I might add I heard the folklore which is probably true of how Stickman got kicked out of Asbury Park legendary venue The Stone Pony. It is said he nearly tore the doors off. We’re talking the two heavy duty type of gymnasium doors most high schools have. LOL. But like all too many shows I wasn’t there.
This is something I could get into if me and Alex would be driving and the car had a cassette player. I could probably enjoy a listen once in awhile. When this had come out I was a fan of the harder bands on the New York City the way it is comp like Sick People from Breakdown. I liked Killing Time. But as the tougher hardcore evolved on into early 1990’s, I didn’t go with it. No judgements. Just never really got fully immersed in this style. It would be something though to hear what they would have sounded like had they not taken the long hiatus.
So there you are this is part of NJ hardcore History. This music on the tape is as hard as the concrete of eTown. Yes I am referencing the band too. I would be willing to part with it because I don’t even own a tape deck anymore. As of late I do find myself staring at the cover art though. Here is where to go to see what Fury of V is up to in 2024. Tour dates, new music, and all that band stuff. https://www.upstaterecordsny.com/fury-of-five
