Picture Archive – Exclusive Photos Obsessed

Picture archive post #1. This is Sunday June 5, 2016 Mesa Arizona ( I looked it up). These posts will showcase some key photos that happened between 2002’s issue and the latest issue. Check it out. https://meatsheetfanzine.com/printed-zine/

The gig was Obsessed who headlined. Karma to Burn opened up. This was at local defunct Club Red. It is sad to see this venue gone. However certain parties who I don’t know would book shows and then make local bands sell their own tickets to friends and randos if they were to get on a bill. This is unacceptable bullshit. I mean isn’t it hard enough to get things going for bands (most times) ? Isn’t partly the responsibility of the promoter / booking agents to fill their venues they represent or work with ? What a tangled basket is weaved. Likewise that is another basket, in another tree…

Karma To Burn – Faster, than Obsessed with a splash of groove

Moving right along though there may have been a local band open called Sierra. I could be mixing gigs but I will say Atomic Bitchwax was on this show. Unfortunately they had to cancel. I was a little bit bummed since I am from New Jersey and I believe the Bitchwax hail from Jersey Shore. Not the lame MTV show version of the shore either.
The photos are mostly Wino. Always a cool dude and in legendary bands. St Vitus. Spirit Caravan.  Hidden Hand.

Wino hails from DC and has left a worldwide mark on heavy music.

I don’t remember minutia about the details of the Obsessed that night. Generally, they were super heavy and well rehearsed. I left feeling like I had gotten my money’s worth for sure. The set did contain songs from The Church Within, the LP that was my gateway into the Obsessed. The Church Within on blue vinyl here https://centurymedia.store/product/Y4LPCE397/the-obsessed-the-church-within-blue-vinyl-2lpThere are just some things I can’t express well. Wino’s guitar playing is top notch. The trio just fucking slayed that night. It is highly likely if you caught Obsessed on the road they were equally impressive in other towns. Of course there is always some blowhard who may have “seen them back in the day , and they were much better then” Isn’t there always one? In other cases, is it me?!?

Secondly is Karma to Burn. I remember the singer taking self-deprecating shots at his band this night. I had never seen them before and I couldn’t find flaw.

They’re dirty, tight, stomp infused stoner boogie.

I believe they hail from West Virginia. At the time I was living high on the hog I picked up a shirt from each band.

In conclusion, please look for more photos from the picture archive soon. Hope you dig. I will add FAN LEVEL to each. As in how much I am into them. I’ll try to give dates and relevant info for documentation sake.

Some of the photos are great but maybe I’ve never dove into their catalog. In that case, you may want to use them. Shoot me a message.

There will be some decent photos of bands that I’m not really that huge of a fan of. I may have just happened to be there. For example I have Dillinger Escape Plan from 2002. Those guys are definitely respectable I like what I’ve heard but I am not a gigantic fan nor am I professional photographer but I do try to document certain moments in music.
