Planet On A Chain Cocalero New Track

Planet On A Chain Cocalero is a new track from a hardcore band I fancy and this is a little something about their latest single plus a few bonus questions with Dave (Sings for POAC).

First things first. I have not posted anything in weeks or months. 2023 held a health crisis and scare that seems to have resolved or is resolving. All my effort is put into resolving this matter. Blog content suffers. Not only do I feel out of loop and inadequate, but I really did not know how to get back to content.

Therefore if you have photos, content, anything you think may fit. Reach out.

Enter Planet On A Chain’s new single Cocalero. Allow me to preface the context though. I don’t feel like I fit in to hardcore as of late. Back in the day, I didn’t fit. I was the long hair among the straight edge NJ hardcore crew. Now even more so.

I’m in the suburbs of Phoenix and when I’d see someone in Gorilla Biscuits shirt I’d get excited. (Back east, no big deal, dime a dozen) So anyways.. I reviewed Planet On A Chain’s stuff before here, please tap click this link https://meatsheetfanzine.com/heavenly-deprogram-measures…/

So here I am now and I caught a whiff that new POAC stuff is here and more coming soon. Check out the new track Cocalero. It has all the speed, aggression, and intensity of the former songs I have heard. Somehow they manage to get more tight on this song without losing any urgency or energy and therefore I must say, Bravo !

The flurry of the opening drum roll. Open sounding chords. Dave shouting as if he’s giving Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket his ‘war face’. This leads me to believe the LP is going to be quite the listening experience.

That being said Cocalero is blistering almost all the way through ending on a slower mosh opportunity of a breakdown.

Clocking in at a minute and change , I can only imagine this live and then the band launching into the next song. Definitely something that is better felt, seen, or listened to than having a bloggist such as me try to decipher.

Next I decide to reach out to Dave and conduct a mini feature / interview. Lucky for me he agrees. Please find the content below. Please follow us both if you do not already on Instaham

Dave – Planet On A Chain : Of course

Dave: Yes, the workers . I read about a book about the illegal gold trade and it talked about some of the working conditions of those miners. I also read another book that had some focus on the cocaine trade. Both of those combined were my inspiration

The song (Cocalero) touches on the people at the bottom taking a huge risk but not getting nearly the same rewards as the people on the top

In South America, farmers have cultivated cocoa leaves for centuries for medicinal and cultural reasons. With the rise of cocaine trafficking, that aspect of their culture also suffers

Dave: I don’t know. Ask me a question haha

Dave: They recorded the music in Oakland and I did the vocals in Austin. I think one of my challenges is getting a solid opinion if I need to do another take or if the one I just did is good enough. I was going to reach out to a friend and have them sit in, but there was a good gig the night I did vocals so I was limited. But, I did bring my partner who was helpful.

Dave POAC : This is false

Dave: I would just like people to check it out. I am very proud of it. I would also encourage anyone who is curious to see us live if we come through.

As a band that features members in different time zones, you never know if we’ll come through again. I think that goes for any band though. Punk / Hardcore is a live genre to me and I think it’s best to go out and see it in person

Dave: Soul Stripper. It’s very midpaced and a sleeper hit.
