Peter and Doug of Field Day – timeless punk rock

A snippet from a longer forthcoming interview with Field Day. This band is half of Dag Nasty during the time Wig Out at Denkos and Field Day LP were released. It just so happens they’re easily one of my all time favorite bands. If you like punk rock from the mid to late 80’s there is a good chance you know these guys. One of the few punk acts that can carry a melodic tune , deliver urgency, and offer some introspective lyrics. The least I could do was ask Doug Carrion (bass) and Peter Cortner (Vocals) a few queries about where things were and where they may go.

(We’re talking about “Under Your Influence ” the Field Day LP re recording version vs. the original Can I Say Lp version.)

JM: Did you catch a lot of shit for doing the slower Zeppelin breakdown?

DC: No.

JM: The kids where I’m from.  I’ll get to that later. I was pretty open-minded with it because I was listening to a lot of stuff growing up but the “hardcore” kids were almost like “What’s this shit” What is this song?!

Peter: Sometimes one of the fun things about being a hardcore kid , because I was a hardcore kid, right is having stuff to be against . You know? And that’s cool.. Man I hated The Smiths. Then one day *Bing* .. of course at that time I was no longer hardcore kid at that moment.

To read the rest stay pick up my zine or hear audio snippets of this interview on the blog. Much gratitude. Hope you enjoyed Post #1.
