Tear Rotunda Up – Play To Destroy

Tear Rotunda Up. Tear It Up at Rotunda, West Philadelphia . Here we go down another foggy path. I’m going to have to phone a friend or have somebody clarify this text. The three photos are definitely Tear It Up. They appear in Meatsheet #5. Pick that issue up here https://meatsheetfanzine.com/product/meat-sheet-fanzine-issue-5/

For some reason there was a cardboard cutout at this Rotunda gig.

So New Jersey’s Tear It Up played to destroy West Philadelphia’s Rotunda. As always, they played as if life depended on it. I can say I’ve seen them several times and under adverse conditions such as having his head split open by drum hardware, flu like cold, etc. Dave Ackerman still brought all the energy despite any curveball, ailments and injuries.

The other players were no exception to this. Here is video evidence from a TIU show I did not attend in Brick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WLNNW27yIU

Matt Times – Tear It Up – on the downbeat

I definitely would have remembered the Halloween stuff hanging from the rafters. Back to Philadelphia show pictured here. I’m not sure who else played. Quite possibly could have been Shark Attack, Ringworm and at least one more. Knowing me I was late and missed a bunch of bands.

This is where you come in. If you remember who else played, please let me know.

I have several sets of band photos from Rotunda. In this set you can even see a lineup setlist behind Matt’s (drums) shoulder. I can’t confirm if it’s for that TIU show or the bands involved.

My memory on this one is hazy enough so that I cannot remember if their LP Nothing to Nothing had been released or if it was just about to come out. Help a brother out. Surely someone remembers the Meatmen parody sticker in the black and whote photo? Sorry for calling you surely. Since the years have made the details unclear, I’ll leave you with these photos as I prepare for a short break. I’ll be heading to the homeland aka New Jersey. Until next time. Be safe and try to catch some bands playing if you can.

F – you – they play to destroy
