First Exclusive Field Day Interview Clip

field day positive punk

Field Day is positive punk rock. As the world burns I’ve been working on transcribing and laying out an interview with Field Day. This interview is printed in my zine. You may buy it here and read the full interview https://meatsheetfanzine.com/product/meatsheet-fanzine-issue-7/ Field Day is an upbeat, bright light in these crazy times.

The forthcoming Field Day interview features two of the four members of the Dag Nasty late 1980’s line up.

Doug Carrion sat and talked about all things Field Day and the evolution of how he and Peter Cortner continue to pay homage to their roots in Dag Nasty. Simultaneously forging onward with new material under the moniker Field Day. Check out their 7″ that is out on multiple colors of vinyl and fun colors and limited pressings.

The Field Day 7″ offers a direct, positive, punk message while staying true to their hardcore roots that helped them evolve into the seasoned bandmates they are today.

Next, just under a minute of discussion about Field Day LP on Giant records. In my circles back around 88 – 89 this was a heated and debated topic. Peter Cortner, Brian Baker, Scott Garrett , and Doug Carrion really delivered a unique listening experience.

This audio clip was part of an in depth discussion on the creation, release, and perception of Field Day LP. A departure from previous work.

Stay tuned and support this band and their labels/distros.

The interview is from February 2020 at a Field Day show in Tempe, AZ. We cover the Field Day LP, certain key points leading up to that LP. The meaning and creation of the Wig Out at Denkos squiggle logo. Can I Say and Wig Out specifics from Doug’s perspective. Peter Cortner does weigh in. Due to tour van issue he pops in and out of van where we chatted. Although there was van trouble it was a fun, positive, and educational interview. A window to where they were then and where they are currently going.

Any feedback on making a zine in modern times of 2020 is appreciated. I’ve not printed anything like this since circa 2002. Technology is more advanced but I’m not. Until then, keep the P.M.A. (positive mental attitudes). Support the artists like Field Day as much as possible. Stay tuned for more material from Field Day and from yours truly as more material unfolds. This year is ridiculous, but Field Day continues to hold up the torch.
