With that, Julee Cruise has left the earthly realm. I’ve listened to her for many years. This is a tribute to her work which is eternal. It’s hard to write this tribute as her music brought me much solace and joy. I think I can speak for her fans on this as well. This will be short and may seem super basic to the major fans of her work. The goal is to honor her work, even if this post is not comprehensive and brief
I’d like to start this tribute off with a with a song I love, but did not match the title with the song in my own mind. I nearly forgot how much I loved its depth and resonance.

Most people that may have known her work come to know it via Twin Peaks. Although I am not a huge Twin Peaks fan, I thank that show for featuring Julee.
Through the years I secured The Voice Of Love and Floating Into The Night on CD.
Both of these albums are haunting and stellar in their own right. Additionally I am able to get The Art of Being A Girl on disc.

In closing I must say that Julee’s music leaves an indelible impression on me. The quiet and beauty is overtly apparent. Also the crescendo in Into The Night is quite striking. I can say from personal experience I play that LP to go to sleep to. By the time that track gets to that part I am nearly asleep. That volume orchestral volume change scares the starch out of me. After that I need moments to return to normal heart activity. Be it intentional or not. Contrast is achieved. It is my wish that Julee’s family, friends, and fans find solace in her transition. May we all celebrate her soul that is inseparable and intertwined into her body of life’s work.
